Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella stands out for its characteristic historic villages, like San Giorgio di Valpolicella, which, in 2015, with its delightful early medieval church built in local stone, became part of the “I Borghi più Belli d’Italia circuit”. 

Among the many monuments and villas that you can find in the area, Villa Serego Alighieri is definitely worth a visit, not only for its surroundings and wine production but also because is owned by the direct descendants of the poet Dante Alighieri.

The territory is a land of contrasts, characterised by gently rolling hills covered with vineyards, rocks going down to the valley floor and imposing quarries. A packed calendar of events makes the area special and fascinating in all periods of the year. 

It's known for its famous wines, but also for the fine marble which is famous throughout the world and it was even used to construct the most important monuments in Verona city centre, such as the Arena, the Roman Theatre, Ponte Pietra bridge and Fontana di Madonna Verona in Piazza Erbe.
